HISTORY

MORE2 was born in 2003 by the prophetic cry for justice on the streets of metropolitan Kansas City— a cry for racial and economic equity. We have added our voices to the prophet’s voice to become a powerful faith-based community organization made up of 16 congregations and faith communities. We are linked to the Gamaliel Foundation, a national organizing institute.

The effort began as a result of a grant awarded to the Gamaliel Foundation from the Kauffman foundation to explore creating a Kansas City regional equity organization.  Encompasses the bi-state Kansas City metropolitan region and seeks to have an impact through alliances in both states. Our approach includes large scale, intentional relationship building among the faith communities, with broad grass roots participation. Rather than providing services or programs, we focus on changing policies in order to promote racial and economic equity in the Kansas City metro region.
